General Motors has begun work on a new platform for Cadillac. It received the code name «Omega», and, thanks to it, cars, that were built on the "Sigma" chassis (a Cadillac CTS, SRX and STS) will be sent to the retirement. Also, the new platform will form the basis of a large flagship sedan of the brand.
According to the magazine "Car and Driver", a new sedan's length will be 5257 mm, it is on 45 mm more than the BMW 7 Series long-wheelbase. The emergence of a new sedan on the market is expected in 2014, but official information on this subject has not been received yet. It is likely, that as prototype for new model, will be taken Cadillac Sixteen.
Also, in the near future, we may receive new XTS, that will be constructed on a new platform "Omega". According to some reports, under the hood of this car will be a 3.6-liter V6 rated at 310 hp. More powerful force solution would be V8 engine, also provides a hybrid version of the model. As the transmission will be used an 8-step "automatic", buyers will be able to order a wheel-drive system. Later on a new platform, Cadillac plans to create a large crossover, coupe and convertible. The last appearance will be made based on the concept Ciel, introduced in 2011.
