In 1960 at the Bruxelles exhibition the Volvo 140 sporty coupe was presented. Initially the car gathered at plant in Great Britain for the reason that the Swedish plant didn't have enough capacities for release of this model. But in 1967 started production of a car in the territory of Sweden, in Torslanda, near to the Gothenburg. The model till 1974 was issued. This model was repeatedly recognized as "The car of year» according to versions of the most authoritative editions. The car in compartment bodies, a sedan and the versatile person was issued. The length of the Volvo 140 car in a body made a sedan 4651 millimeter, width — 1730 millimeters, height — 1440 millimeters.
The wheel base of the car was equal to 2604 millimeters. All updatings of Volvo 140 were equipped with brake system with the amplifier. Cars which were exported to the United States of America, were completed with the environment monitoring system. The most powerful updating was equipped with the petrol power unit in volume 2,0 liters in capacity of 116 horsepower’s with direct injection. The most modest updating had the petrol engine in volume 1,8 liters in capacity of 75 horsepower’s under a cowl. Technical characteristics of Volvo 140 are more modest in comparison with indicators of a sedan of Volvo 760 which was equipped with the petrol engine in volume 2,4 liters in capacity of 179 horsepower’s, a 5-step mechanical box of gear shifting and a back drive.
