The Crvena Zastava plant (Serbian “Red Banner”) is the biggest car manufacturing company on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. It possesses a 50-years experience at car production. The plant was founded in 1955 and at first it was an arsenal based plant producing the cars under Fiat license. After the fall of Yugoslavia the plant found itself to be on the Serbian territory. The Zastava company has manufactured 4 000 000 cars under the Fiat trade mark during its 50-year history and exported around 700 000 automobiles into 74 countries of the world. The plants located in Kragujevac sustained great damage from NATO bomb attacks in 1999 since they produced the combat equipment as well. Currently the Zastava company is going to revive the production of Yugo cars.
